The DSPE's hydrophobic characteristics facilitate the encapsulation and gathering of other hydrophobic drugs. In the presence of an activator like EDC or HATU, the -COOH group can readily react with primary amines, resulting in the formation of a stable amide bond. By changing the PEG length, one can change the micelle size, immunological safety, and change the drug release rate.
