| DSPE-PEG12 carboxy, sodium salt is a lipid that consists of a DSPE-PEG12 unit conjugated to a carboxy group. This lipid incorporates itself into micelles and liposomes which results in this lipid being able to be used for drug delivery research. The carboxy group reacts with amine groups on biomolecules, facilitating the attachment of bioactive molecules to the lipid nanoparticle surface. This unique capability allows for the creation of LNPs tailored for targeted delivery to specific cells. By changing the PEG length, one can change the micelle size, immunological safety, and change the drug release rate. |
