PhotoClick Sphingosine
(2S,3R,E)-2-amino-13-(3-(pent-4-yn-1-yl)-3H-diazirin-3-yl)tridec-4-ene-1,3-diol
(2S,3R,E)-2-amino-13-(3-(pent-4-yn-1-yl)-3H-diazirin-3-yl)tridec-4-ene-1,3-diol and pacSphingosine, or PhotoClick Sphingosine, is a chemical probe used to study sphingolipid metabolism and protein-lipid interactions in cells. As a photosensitizing analog of sphingosine, it integrates into endogenous lipid metabolic pathways. Featuring a sphingosine backbone (d18:1), PhotoClick Sphingosine plays a vital role in cell membrane structure and signaling pathways.
Application
PhotoClick Sphingosine is a clickable analog of sphingosine containing a photoactivatable diazirine group and a terminal alkyne moiety. Upon photoactivation, the diazirine group enables cross-linking with interacting biomolecules, facilitating photoaffinity labeling (PAL). The alkyne moiety supports bioorthogonal labeling via azine-alkyne cycloaddition, allowing for fluorescent tagging of sphingosine-binding proteins.
These properties make PhotoClick Sphingosine a valuable tool for tracking lipid-protein interactions and studying sphingolipid metabolism in live cells.
