Lipids for Supported Monolayers
This class of fatty-acid modified phospholipids can be used to prepare artificial membranes from lipid monolayers to understand the properties of biomembranes. The characteristics associated with these artificial membranes are useful in biomedicine. These characteristics include strong affinity with natural phospholipids, strong binding with water, selective adsorption of plasma proteins, and lateral mobility of molecules without firm adsorption by adhesive cells.
