My journey began in February of 2019 with my annual mammogram. I was asked to return for additional imaging. This was not the first time, so the request didn’t set off any alarms. It had become routine. However, this time was different – there was a mass, Stage I breast cancer! My treatment involved a lumpectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation. I lost all my hair, and some days were harder than others! But I have an amazing support system – my faith, family, friends, church members, sorority sisters, classmates, and co-workers! They are all an important part of my journey and recovery! By the grace of God, I am cancer free! Early detection was integral in my treatment and recovery! Receiving a cancer diagnosis is scary, but it is important to be informed and proactive! Lean on your faith, family, and friends! It’s all in God’s hands! Remember to stay positive and know that God’s got you!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It’s not enough to simply say that you support the breast cancer cause. It’s time to act. It’s time to show that we’re not just pink ribbons. It’s time to show that we’re More Than Pink by joining the fight. Your support helps us to get one step closer to a world without breast cancer! Funds raised help support breakthrough research and the women and men currently facing breast cancer. Whether it’s emotional support via Komen’s helpline, financial support through Komen’s treatment assistance program, or help navigating their care journey, Komen will be there for them! Your generosity can make a real difference! Together, let’s show breast cancer patients there’s a whole community standing by their side! Click the link to join the fight. More Than Pink
