One of the challenges with Lipid Nano particles (LNPs) is the ability to be able to deliver the payload to the desired cells. However, certain functional groups could target desirable cells and by coupling this to a PEG lipid, researchers can acheive drug delivery to specific cells. By coupling maleimide with the C16 Ceramide-suc-PEG2K, researches can achieve a targeted delivery to various desirable systems. DSPE-PEG2k-maleimide can be used to target tumor related macrophages.
