Photoswitchable Sphingosine (PhotoSph)
(2S,3R,E)-2-amino-7-(4-((E)-(4-propylphenyl)diazenyl)phenyl)hept-4-ene-1,3-diol
Photoswitchable sphingosine (PhotoSph) can be used to study the translation of optical stimuli into a reversible cellular response. PhotoSph has been modified with a clickable, azobenzene linkage which can be used to study several important metabolic networks including cell proliferation, cell death, migration, immune responses, and angiogenesis. Imbalances of sphingolipid metabolism are linked to major human diseases.
