GD2 Ceramide is a promising target for cancer immunotherapy due to it being present in many tumor cells such as melanoma and neuroblastoma. Due to it being present in a wide variety of cancers, it is a promising tumor biomarker. By changing the chain length of the fatty acid portion of this ganglioside, it changes its membrane packing ability, signal transduction, and nanodomain formation.
