18:0 Caproylamine PE-N-DOTA(Gd) is a molecule in which 18:0 Caproylamine PE is attached to a gadolinium complex via the DOTA chelating agent. This chelator lipid serves as a key contrast agent in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Its paramagnetic properties enhance the visibility of tissues and structures, particularly in areas with abnormal blood flow. Applications of DOTA-Gd lipids include cancer detection by highlighting tumors through enhanced blood supply, brain imaging to identify disrupted blood-brain barriers indicative of neurological conditions like stroke or tumors, arterial imaging to assess abnormalities such as aneurysms or plaque buildup, joint imaging for evaluating inflammation in arthritis, and liver imaging for assessing function and detecting lesions. Adjusting the DOTA structure, linker flexibility, and complex size allows for sensitivity optimization.
