rac-(3-oleoyl-2-hydroxy)-glycerol(d5)-1-phospho-sn-3'-(1',2'-dioleoyl)-glycerol (ammonium salt)
Bis(monoacylglycerol)phosphates (BMP) are a class of lipids that play an important role in lysosomal integrity and function. BMPs are negatively charged glycerophospholipids and are not found in high concentrations in most mammalian cells, but in cells such as macrophages, the concentration of BMP is much higher. BMP is often dysregulated in lysosomal storage disorders. Recent studies have shown that BMP can be an important biomarker for detecting metastatic cancer, certain lysosomal storage disorders, or drug-induced phospholipidosis. Largely uncharacterized, BMP metabolism remains an understudied lipid metabolic pathway that could lead to a better understanding of lysosomal storage disorders. This BMP is the deuterated version, which will enable the easier study of structure, dynamics, and function of cell membranes |
