18:0 PG 840465 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phospho-(1'-rac-glycerol) (sodium salt)
18:0 PG, also known as 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phospho-(1′-rac-glycerol)(sodium salt), is a phosphatidylglycerol (PG) derived from a L-glycerol 3-phosphate backbone structure and is ester-bonded to saturated fatty acids on carbons 1 and 2. It makes up a minor portion (1–2%) of most cell membranes.
Phosphatidylglycerols are phospholipids where glycerol forms ester bonds with the phosphate polar head group. PGs carry a negative charge under physiological pH conditions.
