Cyanine 5.5 azide is a cyanine dye functionalized with an azide that allows it to be attached to terminal alkynes using click chemistry. By adding this click functionality, it allows this fluorescent probe to be attached to a wide variety of biomolecules such as proteins, nucleic acids, and antibodies. Cyanine probes have a similar fluorescent profile to traditional dyes such as fluorescein but have increased photostability and water solubility. Cyanine probes can be detected using a variety of fluorescence detection techniques such as microscopy and flow cytometry. |
