Ent-DHEA
Ent-Dehydroepiandrosterone
Ent-DHEA/Ent-Dehydroepiandrosterone is the enantiomer of the hormone dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA).
Enantiomers are pairs of compounds that are mirror images of one another, and one cannot be overlaid on one another.
Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), also known as prasterone, is an endogenous steroid hormone, produced primarily by the cortex of the adrenal glands. Small quantities of the hormone are also secreted by the testicles, ovaries, liver, and brain. DHEA is believed to be the most abundant sex hormone in the human body.
The role of dehydroepiandrosterone is not completely understood. However, DHEA has been proven to be an important intermediate product in the conversion of cholesterol to male and female sex steroid hormones - androgens (testosterone, androstenedione) and estrogens (estrone, estradiol).
Despite the lack of abundant scientific evidence, DHEA is also considered to slow the aging process, help in treating depression, relieve osteoporosis symptoms, reduce vaginal dryness in postmenopausal women with vaginal atrophy, etc.
DHEA has more direct and indirect physiological effects. It directly regulates a number of cellular and nuclear receptors, including GABA-a receptor and NMDA receptor, and enhances pancreatic β-cell insulin secretion along with anti glucocorticoid activities.
These hormone levels seem to decrease with age. DHEA concentrations are also lower in people struggling with depression, and in women post-menopause.
Most DHEA undergoes a process of sulfation to dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate prior to secretion.
DHEA enantiomer, Ent-DHEA, plays an essential role in further studying and analyzing the effects and abilities of DHEA.
Avanti Research’ quality and pure Ent-DHEA is a reliable product to include in research projects.
