sitosterol-d7
(24-ethyl)-heptadeuteriostigmast-5-en-3ß-ol
Sitosterol-d7 is a deuterated derivative of β-sitosterol, a naturally occurring phytosterol found in plants, regulating the embryonic phase. Phytosterols, including beta-sitosterol-d7 (mixture of diastereomers), share structural similarities with cholesterol—and are known for their potential health benefits, particularly in cholesterol metabolism and cardiovascular health.
The "d7" in sitosterol-d7 indicates that seven hydrogen atoms in the molecule have been replaced with deuterium, a stable, non-radioactive isotope of hydrogen. Like beta-sitosterol, sitosterol-d7 maintains a structural resemblance to cholesterol. This similarity allows it to compete with cholesterol for absorption in the digestive system.
Applications
Deuterated compounds, including sitosterol-d7, are often used in research and studies to trace metabolic pathways, understand biological processes, and analyze the absorption and metabolism of specific compounds in the body.
Packaging
