Taurochenodeoxycholic acid-d4, sodium salt
5ß-cholanic acid-3α,7α-diol N-(2-sulphoethyl)-amide-d4, sodium salt
Taurochenodeoxycholic Acid-d4 is a deuterated version of taurochenodeoxycholic acid, meaning four hydrogen atoms have been replaced with deuterium atoms—a stable isotope of hydrogen.
Taurochenodeoxycholic acid is a human metabolite and a derivative of one of the primary bile acids (BAs): chenodeoxycholic acid/chenodiol. It is formed when chenodiol is conjugated with the amino acid taurine. Chenodeoxycholic acid is an end product of cholesterol catabolism, and it’s commonly used as a detergent to dissolve gallstones.
The conjugate taurochenodeoxycholic acid’s physiological function in the human body is to emulsify lipids and other fat-soluble compounds as well as cholesterol.
Administration of taurochenodeoxycholic acid is reported to reduce formation of cholesterol in liver hepatocytes.
The metabolite is also proposed as a choleretic and cholagogue due to its ability to stimulate bile excretion from the gallbladder into the duodenum, and increases the amount of discharged matter.
Taurochenodeoxycholic acid has been studied for its anti-inflammatory and anti-cancerous properties with positive outcomes. Therefore, it’s widely suggested as a compound suitable to be incorporated in therapies against inflammation conditions and cancer.
In analyses related to hematopoiesis, taurochenodeoxycholic acid is found to stimulate monocyte differentiation.
Serum levels of the conjugate are elevated in patients with liver cirrhosis. It is indicative of the progression and exit of the disease.
Its deuterated version, Taurochenodeoxycholic Acid-d4, is aimed at use as an internal standard for the quantification of taurochenodeoxycholic acid.
Avanti Research delivers high-quality Taurochenodeoxycholic Acid-d4 to accelerate your research results and discoveries.
