Diacetylene Lipids

Avanti’s diacetylene lipids are phospholipids with a modified fatty-acid chain containing a conjugated dialkyne moiety. These modified phospholipids fall under the photopolymerizable lipid umbrella and have garnered a lot of attention for their ability to stabilize lipid bilayer structures. Photopolymerizable lipids have also been used to control the permeability of artificial lipid bilayers upon UV-activation. These studies are important for controlled drug delivery, especially related to chemotherapies where the therapeutic agent is highly toxic to cells and tissues.
